Building a simple, effective routine

A good routine only takes a few steps. In the morning: a gentle cleanse, a targeted serum if needed, a suitable moisturiser, then sun protection. In the evening: remove make-up and cleanse, then apply a repairing treatment. At the counter, the most common cause of irritation we see is layering several active ingredients (acids, retinol, vitamin C) introduced all at once.

Introducing an active ingredient without irritating your skin

Start with one new product at a time, patch-test it on a small area, and build up gradually how often you use exfoliating or anti-ageing actives. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask for advice before using certain active ingredients. Daily sun protection is essential when using acids or retinol.

When should you see a dermatologist?

Persistent or painful acne, redness that becomes permanent, a mark or mole that changes in appearance, eczema on the face: these go beyond cosmetics. We refer you to your doctor or a dermatologist whenever necessary.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a face cream at the pharmacy?

Start from your skin type (dry, combination, sensitive) and your main need (hydration, radiance, anti-ageing, protection from the cold). Our pharmacists will suggest a short routine with as few products as possible.

Do I need sun protection in winter?

Yes, especially in the mountains, where sunlight reflected off the snow increases UV exposure, and if you use exfoliating actives. A day cream with SPF or a dedicated sunscreen will do.

Is Teoxane skincare linked to hyaluronic acid injections?

Teoxane is a Geneva-based laboratory known for its hyaluronic acid fillers. Its dermocosmetic range, sold in pharmacies, draws on the same expertise, but these are products applied to the skin, not injections.

Can I use several serums at the same time?

You can, but introduce them one at a time and avoid combining several potentially irritating actives (acids, retinol, concentrated vitamin C) on the same evening. If you notice redness or stinging, simplify your routine.
