Phytopharma, a Swiss herbal medicine brand

Based in Grandvillard, in the Gruyère region, Phytopharma has been developing and selling plant-based products for the whole family since 1993: food supplements, medical devices, lozenges, cosmetics and bath products. The brand is sold in Switzerland in pharmacies, drugstores and health food shops. It is a range we appreciate at the counter for its clarity: short formulas built around one or a few plants, which are easy to explain.

Phytopharma products: the highlights of the range

  • Borage oil: borage oil capsules, naturally rich in gamma-linolenic acid, with vitamin E, in packs of 110 capsules or 190 capsules.
  • Lingonberries: lingonberry and cranberry with vitamin C, also in a Plus version with horseradish, for urinary comfort.
  • Apricoderm: nourishing apricot oil care for dry areas (jar, tube, lip stick), and Apricoderm Sun SPF50 and SPF30 sun protection.
  • Throat: fir bud lozenges, honey lozenges, Altea lozenges, mallow and Iceland moss syrup.
  • Knocks and muscles: arnica gel, Acetoflex gels, horse balm (“baume de cheval”).
  • Relaxation: Bonne Nuit (Good Night) syrup with lemon balm and orange blossom, Bonne Nuit and Anti-stress baths.
  • Everyday wellbeing: ACE Selenium, 6 in 1, artichoke, horse chestnut and Pycnogenol, amino acids, and a breastfeeding formula.

Our tips for use

  • Stick to the dose and duration stated on the pack; a plant-based product is still an active product.
  • Tell us about your treatments: some plants (garlic, borage, extracts rich in vitamin K or omega fatty acids) may not be advisable with anticoagulants or before surgery.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask for advice before starting any course, even a “natural” one.
  • Menthol lozenges and essential oil baths are not always suitable for young children: check the minimum age.
  • For urinary problems: if you have a fever, back pain or blood in your urine, see a doctor straight away.
