Adapting your routine to the season

In Geneva, the bise (the cold north-easterly wind) and winter temperatures dry the skin out, while summer calls above all for good sun protection. At the counter, people often ask us why their skin still feels tight despite using a cream: the most common culprit is a shower that is too hot and too long, with a harsh shower gel. Lukewarm water, a gentle cleanser and a cream applied to skin that is still slightly damp already make a big difference.

Our selection

  • Moisturising: Pure Altitude’s Crème Corps Comme la Neige body cream and Lait Corps Velours de Neige body lotion.
  • Very dry areas: Phytopharma’s Apricoderm care, made with apricot oil, and Pure Altitude Cold Cream, for the whole family.
  • Hands: Secret des Alpes hand cream, a gentle hand wash, and handbag-sized care for the winter months.
  • Exfoliation: Cristaux de Neige body scrub and a dry-brushing brush, once or twice a week at most.
  • Sun: Apricoderm Sun SPF50 for body and face.

Itchy skin: when should you see a doctor?

Simple dryness improves within a few days with suitable care. Itching that keeps you awake at night, red patches that weep or spread, or a reaction after using a new product warrant advice: if needed, we will refer you to your doctor or a dermatologist.

Frequently asked questions

Which cream is best for very dry skin in winter?

Choose a rich, nourishing texture and apply it to skin that is still slightly damp after a lukewarm shower. Products based on plant oils or beeswax, such as Apricoderm or Cold Cream, work well on very dry areas.

How often should I use a body scrub?

Once or twice a week is enough, on skin that is free of irritation or broken areas. Avoid scrubbing just before sun exposure or on atopic skin during a flare-up.

Are body care products suitable for children?

Some, such as Cold Cream, are designed for the whole family. For babies and atopic skin, choose fragrance-free products and ask our team for advice.
